Penn State Hershey Medical Center has selected Secure Exchange Solutions to enable electronic dermatology consultations.
June 29, 2015 – Hershey, PA – Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, a state-of-the-art tertiary care facility, has selected Secure Exchange Solutions to support eConsultations. Penn State Hershey specialists will leverage Direct secure messaging to provide guidance and expertise to community providers near and far.
Community providers will use Direct secure email addresses, powered by Secure Exchange Solutions, to send data and images to Penn State Hershey specialist teams. The specialists will receive the information inside their Cerner Millenium health record where they will review the data and respond with follow up instructions.

Penn State Hershey selected Secure Exchange for the eConsult initiative to leverage its expansive nationwide connectivity, rapid onboarding process for community providers, and support for sending all types of clinical documentation. Telehealth, once complicated by the need to exchange information across many different Electronic Health Records (EHRs), is made easier by utilizing the nationwide standard for healthcare communications (Direct), which now allows physicians using varying EHRs to communicate seamlessly.
